Easter Decoration

“Easter spells out beauty, the rare beauty of new life”.
(S.D. Gordon)

Easter eggs and bunnies formed a common staple in Enid Blyton books and Dennis the Menace comics. For a lot of non-Christians, Easter is a time of celebration, fun and frolic. Yet many may not be aware that Easter actually marks the resurrection of Lord Jesus Christ.

No wonder it is hailed as a festival of such deep significance, about as important as Christmas which celebrates the birth of Christ. This is an auspicious time and celebrated as such. So what do you do for Easter? Let me re-phrase that by asking: How do you go about embellishing your home for Easter?

Well, you might know that the bunny rabbit – that’s right, a la Bugs Bunny – is an integral theme of Easter celebrations. Go out and buy a lot of cute ones and have fun placing them in nooks and corners- all the places of strategic importance.

It would be a good idea if you could get some bunnies to somehow hold placards proclaiming ‘I love you!’ It simply adds to the festive spirit.

Make sure your dining table is laden with cakes and other goodies. And don’t forget an amply filled-out basket, decorated to the best of your imagination, full of chocolates – preferably chocolate bunny rabbits – and jellybeans.

Place the basket on center of the table to add to the cheer. And how can you possibly forget exotically-colored Easter eggs? You can paint or use dyes on them and place them on tissues of different colors.

You can paint on - rather imaginatively - Christ’s figure or those of the Easter bunny. The victuals on your table can be rendered prettier with a dash of imagination. You can bake chocolate cookies for your guests in the shape of bunnies, just to give an example.

On your walls you can put up colorful stickers, posters, and paintings. Make sure each one spreads the message of cheer.

You can also gift lovely, decorative Easter cards to your guests as well as handicraft items like wallets or handbags with Easter motifs – of eggs and bunnies – embossed on them. Hang up the Easter cards you receive on a piece of string in one corner of the room- it looks really nice.

On the Easter tree you can go wild with multi-colored ribbons and little paper lanterns.

Last, but not the least, don’t forget to put flowers – fresh lilies – in your drawing room vase. It will serve to enhance the message of peace and purity associated with Easter. Spread the message far and wide this season!
